I’ve always loved this time of year. There’s something wonder filled about the Christmas season but things definitely feel different this year.

We are living in a type of time that none of us has ever experienced before. There are travel restrictions and mandates about just about everything. Families are struggling to make ends meet after facing furloughs and job loss. Many have lost loved ones or have faced extreme illness themselves. Nothing about this year, about this Christmas season feels like Christmases past.

While the world around us is filled with uncertainty, there’s still something comforting about a warm cooked meal that’s so good for the soul. If you or someone you know is struggling this Christmas season and you’re not sure how you’re going to make ends meet to put together a Christmas meal, the River Club of Afton wants to help.

The River Club of Afton will be offering free community Christmas dinners, as take-out meals. If you would like to take advantage of this generous offer, you’re asked to call the River Club of Afton at 607-639-3060 and let them know how many meals you will need and what time on Christmas Eve (December 24) you will be picking up your meal(s). Orders must be placed by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20.

If you need a meal and are unable to pick once up the River Club of Afton will be delivering meals within a 15-mile radius. When you call to reserve your meal, please make sure to let them know if you will need delivery.
