The Backstreet Boys have dabbled in country music quite a bit over the course of the last couple of years: The group netted their first No. 1 country single in 2017 with the Florida Georgia Line collaboration "God, Your Mama and Me," accompanied the country duo out on the road for the Smooth Tour that summer, and even headed to Nashville to cut some tracks for their upcoming 10th studio album, which BSB says will take several cues from country influences.

However, one Backstreet Boy -- AJ McLean -- is taking his affinity for the genre to the next level with a full-on country single. "Back Porch Bottle Service," is a fun-loving summer anthem that showcases his long career in pop music with the added twang that comes from his (relatively) newfound love for the country format. In an interview with Billboard, McLean says that he wants to use his own unique life experiences and musical background to "shake things up" in country music.

"I'm coming in to disrupt country," McLean tells Billboard. "It's kind of country/pop/urban with my own flair, but it still has that country story-telling vibe, as far as lyrics. But the songs are definitely gonna blow y'all away."

He goes on to say that his experiences in front of country audiences inspired the venture: "After we did 'God, Your Mama and Me' with FGL ... something just kind of clicked. I got this overwhelming inspiration to give it a go." McLean, who has also dabbled with acting and fashion over the course of his career, describes himself as a "chameleon" who constantly seeks new projects to pursue and boundaries to push.

With the help of accomplished Nashville songwriters such as Clint Lagerberg and Brett Tyler, McLean immersed himself in the spirit of country music to create his first foray into the genre. On June 5, McLean will perform the track for the first time during a special showcase of new music at his sold-out launch party.
