Though the past week brought shocking and divisive news that 'Girls' star Adam Driver was potentially up for the role of Dick Grayson/Nightwing in 'Batman Vs. Superman,' we'd heard long before that Nightwing could potentially swoop into The CW's 'Arrow.' A 'Vampire Diaries' star has recently been suggesting himself in contention for the role, but is there any real truth to the rumor?

We first learned of the rumor through IGN and and ScreenRant (no relation), specifically that 'The Vampire Diaries' star Steven McQueen had repeatedly teased his involvement with the role over Twitter. McQueen first presented a photo of himself weight training in a Nightwing shirt, thereafter getting so direct as to say "Had some superhero conversations with the executives this weekend @ARROWwriters."

Granted, we'd already deduced for ourselves that the 'Arrow' universe likely wouldn't share any connection with Zack Snyder's big-screen 'Justice League' buildup, given that 'Spartacus' star Cynthia Addai-Robinson will soon pop up as DC go-between Amanda Waller, shortly followed by 'Glee' star Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, potentially leading into a 'Flash' spinoff series thereafter. DC's surprise casting decisions not withstanding, we'd have to imagine the studio attaching more marketable names to such recognizable characters were they destined for the big screen.

'Arrow' producer Andrew Kreisberg previously expressed interest in introducing Nightwing to the series, particularly given that the character's native Blüdhaven has been seen on multiple occasions, though at the time the character had been considered off-limits, given Warner Bros. post-Nolan Batman plans. Not to mention, a Nightwing appearance would naturally raise questions of Batman popping up somewhere in the future, which we'd doubt DC bosses to allow just yet. Fellow 'Arrow' producer Marc Guggenheim also previously expressed an interest in featuring DC hero "The Question," though nothing has arisen of the character since.

It remains to be seen if Steven McQueen has pulled a fast one on his Twitter followers, but what say you? Would you want to see either NIghtwing or Dick Grayson pop up on 'Arrow,' regardless of 'Batman Vs. Superman's potential use of the character?
