Chenango Blues Festival Returns to Norwich

With things starting a slow return to normal following a harrowing year of coronavirus, we are excited to see some of our region's most popular events returning to local stages, arenas and fairgrounds.

Just last week, New York Governor Cuomo announced that county fairs have been given the go-ahead to open their gates to the public.  While each county will make their own individual decision on whether to hold a fair or not, or to hold it in a modified way, we hope they do.  County fairs in Otsego, Delaware, Chenango and Schoharie are nostalgic hallmarks of summer and we hope to see that tradition resume this summer.

Also, we cannot deny that the announcement of the return of the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse at the end of the summer is fantastic news.

The Chenango Blues Festival is also returning this summer.  The event, now in its 28th year, is one of the biggest entertainment events in Chenango County and traditionally draws thousands to Norwich for a couple of days of some of the best Blues music in the Northeast.  We are delighted that planners have given this beloved music event the green light and we look forward to attending.

According to Kerri Greene from Commerce Chenango, the Blues Festival is a major economic draw to the county each summer.  From restaurants to hotels to service stations and to the retail shops in the county, the economic benefit from this one festival is significant.

The event will be held at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich on August 20 and 21.  Some of the top names in the Blues business will entertain inducing Albert Castiglia, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, and Jamie Vaughn.
