Deadly Snowmobile Accident Takes Walton Man’s Life

A Walton man was killed in a snowmobile accident that happened last Friday off Chipmunk Hollow Road in the town of Walton. According to New York State Police, 46-year-old Jeffrey Benson succumbed to hypothermia and cardiac arrest after he and his sled went through ice on a pond that Benson was riding across.  A friend of Benson's on another snowmobile heard the ice crack and followed up with an attempted rescue.  When Benson was unresponsive, the friend called 911 from a nearby residence.
