Mariano Rivera Send-Off is a Classic Baseball Moment
Mariano Rivera pitched for the last time in Yankee Stadium on Thursday night. And the Yankees fans, coaches and players sent him out in classic style.
Rivera sobbed on the mound as Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte came out to make the call to the bullpen. The three have been teammates most of their individual careers and the image evoked memories of the late 90s and early 2000s when the trio came up in the pros together.
Rivera received a deserved and lengthy standing ovation before exiting. He later returned to take some dirt from the Yankee Stadium pitchers mound.
Watch the moment in full below. We will surely see Rivera in Cooperstown soon.
