As reported by Sarge this morning, New York State has come up with a plan that hopefully will help reduce the number of tick related diseases in the state.  Governor Cuomo recently announced that the state will increase the number of deer feeding stations across New York that will contain eco-friendly tick control treatments.

In addition, a new public awareness campaign will be launched, aimed at hunters, fishermen and hikers that will provide tips on tick control. The State Department of health is also utilizing private researchers to collaborate with state officials on new tests to detect Lyme disease and other tick borne illnesses.

On a personal note, I have witnessed a friend deal with the pain and agony of Lyme disease, and it is a long way from a fun time.  Be careful.
