An event born from a collaboration between SUNY Oneonta's Office of Sustainability, Residential Life and the Move Out Committee and the ARC Otsego's Otsego ReUse Center at 23 Duane St. in Oneonta, "The Move Out Free Sale", to keep perfectly good, usable items that college students don't want out of the trash before heading home for the summer, is coming right up on May 24 at The Otsego ReUse Center starting at 9:00 am and running until noon.

Typically, the Otsego ReUse Center is a thrift store that sells all kinds of donated items - everything from construction materials to home goods, games, DVDs, and even toys. All proceeds from sales benefit the ARC Otsego which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but at the "Move Out Free Sale", all the items under the tent are FREE. It's a dream come true for anyone who loves good free stuff, especially those who are struggling financially.

Anything else at the Otsego ReUse Center is for sale but at very cheap prices to make things affordable and don't be surprised if you come across some wonderful treasures because inventory changes daily at the ReUse Center which is open Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In case you didn't know, the Otsego ReUse Center expanded and has another building right around the corner from their main building on Duane St. and that is the former Moose Lodge. It contains TONS of building supplies and hardware (some new and still in packaging!).

You won't find clothes at the ReUse Center except when they hold The "Move Out Free Sale", but you'll find almost everything else. Here's a tip for those of you going to the Free Sale: the best items go fast so get there early on Friday if you can.

SUNY Oneonta is looking for people willing to volunteer some time either setting up or helping during the Free Sale event. Contact the Office of Sustainability at 607-436-3312 if you can help.
