Oneonta, NY Teen Gets 20 To Life Sentence Following Murder and Robbery Conviction

After being convicted of murder and robbery charges that date back to October 10, 2019, a sentencing decision was handed down in Otsego County Court on Monday to 17-year-old Dylan Robinson of Oneonta who was convicted of murdering his father, Kenneth Robinson during a robbery attempt at his father's home in Worcester, NY according to AllOTSEGO.

Marijuana and money were the sought-after items in the robbery attempt that ended in the murder of Kenneth Robinson by his then 15-year-old son Dylan. Judge John Lambert sentenced Robinson to 20 years to life in jail.

Addressing Robinson during sentencing Judge Lambert commented that Robinson had made poor decisions at a young age, living a life of partying without consequences. Lambert went on further to say that when Dylan killed his dad and laughed about it, “That isn’t a reaction of a 15-year old. That is the reaction of a killer.”

In addition to that sentence, Robinson also has to serve 10 years for burglary in the second degree and 10 years for attempted robbery in the third degree, which will be served concurrently.

In the courtroom on Monday for the sentencing was Marie Hoag whom Dylan Robinson had lived for years with, along with Hoag's daughter. Hoag described Kenneth Robinson as physically abusive to Dylan and his brothers, calling him a “monster”, saying that she was afraid for her's daughter's life and her own. Hoag also made accusations against Kenneth, saying that she witnessed him "going after" Dylan in her own house.

All others involved in the case either made plea deals or are currently serving jail time following convictions. The case is expected to be appealed.
