State Police and local law enforcement agencies are conducting extra patrols to crack down on distracted driving, along with other vehicle and traffic law infractions.

It’s part of a state program called Operation Hang Up which is running from now until April 10 running in conjunction with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said he urges all drivers to act responsibly and put their devices down to prevent tragedy and heartbreak.
