On Monday State Police issued a reminder that those with New York pistol permits issued before 2013 that they will have to re-certify with the state by January 31 or they could have their credentials revoked. That’s because New York passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act – also know as the SAFE Act – in January of 2013 and as part of the measure permit holders are required to re-file with the state every five years.
