For the second year in a row State Senator James Seward has obtained financial aid for the City of Oneonta to help offset public safety costs generated due to being a SUNY host community. Last year Senator Seward instituted an Impact Aid program where Oneonta received $200,000 and this year the city will receive $194,500.

In a statement Seward says while SUNY schools are a real asset by educating our future leaders and helping drive the local economy there is a financial trade-off that goes overlooked and local taxpayers should not be left holding the bag.
