Now that the Patriots are DONE, my football season is over and it's time to get ready to "Play Ball."  Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in a month, and I am ready to cheer the Sox on to their second straight title. No, really, I can feel it...

The third Red Sox championship in ten years got me to thinking about my grandfathers last night, both of who were big "SAWX" fans. The reason being that neither of them got to see the Sox win a series in their lifetime. Well, they were both alive when the Red Sox won the 1918 series, but one was 6, the other 3, so that doesn't count, right...

It was sad to see that another of my heroes from the pennant winning 1967 Red Sox team had died.  George Scott, "Boomer," 1st baseman on that team, passed away this week at the age of 69. Scott is a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame, and with his passing, sadly only one of that team's starting infielders is still with us...

....neither can get a hit!   As a Red Sox fan, I haven't had much, no ANYTHING to cheer about this baseball season, other than the Yankees near regular season collapse, and now the total lack of offense in the post season.  Love how Yankee fans and players are now  "channeling" the 04' Sox and their ability to deal the Bombers the most humiliating defeat in sports history...

My being a long time Red Sox fan, and I do mean LONG time, when I read that former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Pedro Borbon died recently, I couldn't help but think of that great '75 World Series when the Sox almost broke the curse. Borbon was a member of the Reds team that won back to back titles in 75 and 76...

      Bad enough to see the Red Sox blow a 9 run lead, but to blow a lead like that to the YANKEES>>>>>>>>It's going to be a long season
