Tebey and Marie Mai are blurring genre lines with the release of their new duet "The Good Ones," and they are letting Taste of Country readers see the video for the song first in this exclusive premiere.

Tebey co-wrote "The Good Ones" with Matt Rogers and Kylie Sackley, and the lyrics look back on a relationship that has come to an end and left the former lovers with some sweet among the bitter.

"Don’t think about, don’t think about, don’t think about goodbye / Walking away, tears in the rain and who made who cry / I like to picture you smiling / Making you laugh, kissing you back, underneath that shade tree / Calling you baby, and the way we loved / When it comes to memories of us / I hope you remember the good ones," they sing in the chorus.

Tebey co-produced the track alongside Danick Duepelle, blending contemporary country and lush pop elements for a progressive sound. The black-and-white video helps to create a sense of romantic longing for something that can never be again.

"The original demo version of 'The Good Ones' wasn’t a duet. But the more I lived with the song, the more it started to feel like it could be," Tebey tells us.

"Marie Mai was our first choice for a duet partner," he adds. "She’s a massive French Canadian pop star, and we share a mutual friend. We sent her the song and she loved it instantly and agreed to sing on it with me. I think it’s extra special when two artists from two different genres can come together to create something like this."

Tebey is a Canadian singer-songwriter who first came to prominence as a songwriter for both pop and country artists. His pop credits include One Direction, Fifth Harmony, Flo Rida and more, but more recently he's turned his attention to country music. Tebey now resides in Nashville, and in the last 18 months he has scored three No. 1 country hits as a writer: one in the U.S. on Justin Moore's "Someone Else Will," another in Canada with Gord Bamford's "Dive Bar" and yet another in Canada for his song "Who's Gonna Love You," which gave Tebey his first No. 1 hit as an artist.
