‘Vikings’ Season 2 Spoilers: What Will the Time Jump Change?
A few weeks ago, we learned the surprising (yet consistent) news that 'Vikings' season 2 would undergo an impressive time jump, aging the young Bjorn (Nathan O’Toole) into an older warrior portrayed by 'The Hunger Games' star Alexander Ludwig. More than a simple age-up however, what other major character dynamics will have shifted when 'Vikings' premieres its second season in 2014?
According to casting reports obtained by SpoilerTV, the older Bjorn (as portrayed by Ludwig) will not have seen his father Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) for "a long period of time," as he reunites with Ragnar and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), who have themselves been estranged since Ragnar's courtship of Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).
If the casting reports are to be believed, Lagertha herself will have remarried to a wealthy Earl, a stepfather who provides stern guidance to Bjorn in refusing to allow the youth a mountain sequester, and test of his skills.
Elsewhere, returning cast for ‘Vikings’ season 2 includes George Blagden as Athelstan, ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Donal Logue as King Horrik, Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy (beautiful wife of the late Earl Haraldson), Clive Standen as Ragnar’s brother Rollo, and Gustaf Skarsgard as the ship-building Floki. Along with Ludwig's casting, 'Batman Begins' star Linus Roache was announced to play the regular role of King Ecbert of Wessex.
We'll be on hand to see what the cast and crew have to say of 'Vikings' season 2 at Comic-Con 2013, but in the meantime, what say you? Are you looking forward to 'Vikings' season 2, even if the time jump changes up the story we've come to know?
