Was This The Best Travers Stakes In Recent Years At Saratoga?

There is nothing I love more than spending my entire Saturday at the Saratoga Racecourse for the Travers.  This year's 2022 Travers Stakes was awesome to say the least and the crowd reached almost 50,000.  It was so nice to see the demographic ranging from very young kids, to teenagers, to young adults, to the older portion of the population including myself.  The atmosphere was great and so was the 153rd running of the Travers.  Epicenter won the race followed by Cyberknife and then Zandon finishing in third.  Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike finished fourth as I am sure not many people had him on their cards.  Here is my quick take on this from The Times Union:

Mechanicville Trainer Chad Brown should hold off Todd Pletcher to win the training title at Saratoga, but trainer Steve Asmussen has the best three year old in the country. Asmussen proved that in Saturday’s Runhappy Travers’ when Epicenter was much better than his seven challengers. When they turned from home, there was not much drama on who was going to win the Mid-Summer Derby. Epicenter is at the top of his class, with the Breeders Cup at Keeneland the next stop.
