When the Zac Brown Band unveiled the heartfelt, piano-led weeper “Leaving Love Behind” from their forthcoming album The Owl, they revealed a softer side of the band's namesake. The song about saying goodbye, released while Brown copes with his 2018 split from jewelry designer Shelly Brown, takes a different meaning in a new music video, however.

The Zac Brown Band's "Leaving Love Behind" music video stars the sorts of quirky and adorable pets that can be displaced during natural disasters such as the recent Hurricane Dorian. When paired with footage that makes it look like a cat and a chicken play piano instead of Zac Brown Band keyboardists Coy Bowles and Clay Cook, the song becomes as whimsical as the briefly shown fiddle-loving donkey -- that is, until fans find out the video’s greater purpose.

“Whether it’s funny things they do or the fact that they comfort us when we need them, we wanted to highlight how pets can make us smile even when we think we can’t,” Brown says in a statement quoted by People. “Especially in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, thousands of pets are without homes."

ZBB are encouraging listeners and fans to donate to Best Friends Animal Society's Disaster Relief Fund, which is caring for the animals now without homes because of the hurricane. Dorian wreaked havoc in the Bahamas, directly hitting the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, leaving at least 50 people dead, according to NBC News; the hurricane also made landfall in North Carolina and, finally, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Owl, the Zac Brown Band’s sixth album overall and the band's first since 2017’s Welcome Home, arrives on Sept. 20.
