Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say they went to check on the welfare of a man at a gas station and found over $100,000-worth of illegal drugs.

Sheriff Ernest Cutting Junior says Deputies were sent to the Mirabito Gas Station in the Village of Greene to check on a man in a vehicle before 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 16.

Authorities found 31-year-old Phillip Cosilmon of Smithville, who was already the point of a lengthy narcotics investigation, slumped over the wheel with drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight.

The Narcotics Division searched the vehicle at 6:50 a.m. and found two pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, acid and mushrooms as well as $22,000 in cash.  The Sheriff says the street value of the drugs is in excess of $100,000.

Cosilmon is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, the investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.

He was sent to the Chenango County Jail without bail.
