If you love nature, the water, and interacting with others, there's a seasonal full-time position looking to fill 15 spots and one which could put you to work for 40 hours a week during the summer months.

The Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) needs 15 individuals to fill its seasonal boat launch steward positions. The job would be located in communities along both the New York and Vermont shorelines of Lake Champlain.

Boat launch stewards spend their time working at over a dozen public access sites situated on Lake Champlain and this position will be open from Memorial Day to late summer or early fall.

Boat launch stewards greet boaters and share the Clean, Drain, and Dry message with individuals to remind them to clean their boat and equipment of any aquatic invasive species. The hope is to protect the Lake’s ecosystem

During the summer of 2021, more than 11,000 boats were inspected by boat launch stewards and 829 invasives species were found on boats that were either entering or leaving Lake Champlain. This position is more than just working outside in the sun on a lake.

The Lake Champlain Basin Program works hand in hand with Paul Smith’s College Adirondack Watershed Institute and if you are one of the 15 to fill this position, you will get an incredible education and also be able to harvest invasive species in different parts of the lake so that you can learn more about their impact on nature.
