We were joined in the Big Kat studio Tuesday morning by Michael Middaugh, Supervisor of the Chenango County Child Advocacy Center, and June Georgia, Community Educator and Victim Advocate, and they told us of some upcoming events this month. It is Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month and nation Crime Victim's Rights Week. In recognition of Crime Victim's Rights Week, Friday is "Wear Blue Day."

Mr. Middaugh also informed us that there will be an Open House at the Advocacy Center, 8 Silver St. in Norwich from noon to 4 April 11th.  Finally, they told us that Friday April 25th is National Denim Day, which has become an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual violence and assault. An interesting history goes with the recognition of this day, and you can hear Michael explain this and much more eyeopening information by clicking on and listening to the entire interview below. It's quite informative. For more on the Child Advocacy Center and their activities, call 334-KIDS(5437). You can also contact June at Catholic Charities of Chenango County at 334-8244.
