We look forward to the "Susquehanna Balloon Festival" each Labor Day weekend and sadly, this year's event has fallen due to scheduling conflicts according to event organizers. This event is put on each year due to a collaborative effort between Destination Oneonta, LEAF Inc, FOR-DO & Five Star Subaru, and Balloon NY.

It seems that with the progression of COVID picking up speed again in New York State, other balloon festivals across the state have had to reschedule their events which have created scheduling problems for the Susquehanna Balloon Festival since many of these balloonists across the state go to the same events.

The following announcement was made recently on the Susquehanna Balloon Festival Facebook page:

It's unclear what the organizers are planning for Oct 15 and 16 but as soon as more information is released, we'll let you know.

At least we know that the Susquehanna Balloon Festival will return in 2022 for 3 days: September 9, 10, and 11. Ever since the festival began in Oneonta, I have always considered it a real treat and rare opportunity to see these beautiful hot air balloons take to the skies over Oneonta, not to mention the balloon glow when it gets dark and actually see the hot air balloons up close and fully inflated on the ground.

Let's hope COVID clears out quickly for the October event!
