According to a press release from SUNY Oneonta, the college's Biological Field Station on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown now has a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that will allow students and faculty to significantly expand their research and increase efficiency. It’s what’s described as an electrofishing boat – a vessel that transmits electricity into the water to stun fish long enough to catch them, take measurements and biological samples then place them safely back into the water. The boat was purchased with a $100,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
