Historic Day In Norwich Saturday
This Saturday, September 29th, Chenango County will celebrate the 175th birthday of the Chenango County Courthouse. The Honorable Judge W. Howard Sullivan joined us in studio to give us a preview of the event. He said they will celebrate, among other things, the troops mustering out from the courthouse steps to win two World Wars, as well as noting the prolific group of luminaries that have spoken on the steps.
Those speakers include former Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt, Governors Al Smith, George Pataki and Thomas Dewey, and Senator Robert Kennedy.
Honorable Kevin M. Dowd, Chenango County Supreme Court Justice will present the keynote address, followed by dignitaries from throughout NY State.
The entire program, which begins at noon Saturday, is expected to last about one hour, after which the courthouse will be open for tours and historic exhibits.
Listen to the entire interview with Judge Sullivan and hear about the Court's rich history.
