“Tent City” Discovered on the Chenango River in Norwich

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office is reporting that they have cleaned up a "Tent City" which was recently discovered along the Chenango River behind the North Plaza on City of Norwich property.  The clean up began in February but had to be postponed due to weather.

The Sheriff's report said they cleaned up between 50 and 60 used needles, 16 fifty gallon garbage bags of trash, and other items left behind by the occupants.  The clean up took several hours, and the Sheriff's office was assisted by the Norwich Fire Department, Oxford Fire Department and City of Norwich DPW.
